How to Help Street Dogs in Summer: Simple Ways to Save Lives

Summer can be extremely harsh for street animals. While we protect ourselves with fans, cool drinks, and shade, street dogs often struggle to survive the rising temperatures. Heat, dehydration, and lack of shelter can quickly become life-threatening for them.

The good news is that you don’t need to run a shelter to help — small actions can make a huge difference.

Keep Water Bowls Outside
One of the easiest and most powerful things you can do is place a bowl of clean water outside your home, shop, or office. During peak summer, water sources dry up, and many dogs suffer from severe dehydration. Remember to refill the bowl daily and place it in a shaded area so the water stays cool.

Create a Shady Resting Spot
Street dogs often sleep on hot roads because they have nowhere else to go. If possible, allow them to rest in shaded corners, under a tree, or near a building. Even placing a piece of cardboard or an old mat can protect them from the burning ground.
